MLB – DFS – Outfield – The Top 20 Rankings & More

I’ve been looking forward to writing about the Outfield forever since the start of this blog.  Also, there is some serious motivation to write today since I have my first season league draft. At first, I was hesitant to do a year long league this year because I really want to win a ton of money on a Daily basis rather than wait for a $500 payday after 162 games. Ok, time to focus on what this post is really about – the top 25 OF.

1. Mike Trout – unanimous #1 pick in all formats. Expect big things again from Mike Trout. He sure does love the spotlight in LA.  30+ HR, .300+ AVG, 20+ SBs, 80+ RBI.

2. Andrew McCutchen – in my eyes, still one of the most under rated players in the game.  He burst on the scene in 2012 and haven’t slowed down.  With his surge, the pirates have also gotten substantially better.  25+ HR, .300+ AVG, 20+ SBs, 90+ RBI.

3. Giancarlo Stanton – ESPN the mag’s cover boy for it’s MLB mlb_a_stant4_cr_576x324Preview.  I really don’t think that head shot he took at the end of last year is going to affect him at all.  Stanton will break 40 dingers this year for the first time in his career.   He is one of the most dangerous hitters in the game and will be for a LONGGGGGGG time.

4.Carlos Gomez – the last three years have been very good for Gomez. Personally, I don’t like his playing style and hot head but numbers and his production doesn’t lie. His DFS price will be the same as the top 3. – 20+HR, 75+ RBI, 90+ Runs Scored, 30+ SBs.

5. Adam Jones – great presence in that Baltimore lineup. Should follow up 2014 with another solid campaign in 2015.  27 HRs, 90 RBI and a .280 BA.

6. Jose Bautista – Power and RBI guy… If he stays healthy, look at 35 homers and 90+ RBI.

7. Yasiel Puig – can his reckless play keep him in the lineup? puiglolProbably.  How can you keep a guy that will hit 20 HRs, drive in 85 runs, and score another 80. He is a hard man to get out and has one hell of a swing!

8. Michael Brantley – I think he will duplicate his performance last year.  I don’t know how he was under the radar for over half the season last year.  You can’t ignore a guy that will hit 18 hrs and hit over .320.

9. Bryce Harper – have yet to see Harper play for a full season, but i am optimistic that this will be the one.  We will actually be able to get a full assessment of where he stands in terms of this top 10 by the all star break.  I think he as the potential to finish the year with 25+ HRs, 85+ RBI, and a .290 BA.

10. Jacoby Ellsbury – 2011 – 32 hrs…. 2012 – 2014 – 29 hrs… Jacoby’s power is gone, even in NYY.  But he is a serious threat in the box and on the bases. I think he is going to have a bounce back year and hit closer to .300, score 90+ runs while swipping 40 bags.

11. Justin Upton – 3rd team in the last 5 years. Back in the NL West, where he had his first success. Look for him to lit up Petco Park with 25+ HRs with 90+ RBI.

12. Ryan Braun – Looking forward to getting him on the cheap this year because some have some serious low expectations of Braun. I can see him having a good year with 25+ hrs and 85+ RBI.

13. Yoenis Cespedes – he is going to look great in a tigers uniform and look even better in that lineup.  I would not be surprised if he had a 100+ RBI season with 27+ HRs.

14. Corey Dickerson – another guy’s power benefiting from the Colorado air.  He should hit 20 long balls while hitting for a high BA in the low 290s.

15. Starling Marte – Low power threat. Base Stealer, run scorer, and mediocre average. 12 HR, 40+ SBs, 75 runs scored, .270 BA

16. Hunter Pence – potential for low 20’s HRs with a mid 260’s BA and 65 RBI.  He is a great team guy and solid OF addition to a nightly lineup. Shouldn’t be your #1 option but is a solid #2/3

17. George Springer – 20 hrs in 78 games last year.  He definitely has the pop to be a 30 hr guy but his average will suffer  and will probably strike out a ton.  Expect 25 – 32 hrs with a .250 AVG and 75 RBI.

18. Matt Kemp – Kemp had a great 2014 season and I think that will carry over to San Deigo in 2015. He should be able to hit 25 HR again but have the opportunity to drive in more runs and score more as he will serve as the 3 hitter in that lineup. Final numbers should look pretty good. 22 HR, 80 RBI, 65 Runs Scored, and a .280 BA.

19. Carlos Gonzalez – used to be in everyone’s top 5 until he couldn’t finish a season without getting injured. He has never played a full season… for analysis purposes, let’s just suppose he will this year.  20 HRs, 70 RBI, 65 Runs Scored, and a .275 BA.

20. Billy Hamilton – speed, speed and more speed. 2nd full year in the bigs and he should steal at least 60 bags. Being the lead off guy in Cincy he should benefit from Votto having a gull year and score 80+ runs, especially if he is getting on base frequently. Hamilton should finish in the .260’s BA with 80 runs scored and 60+ SBs.

Best of the Rest – 30 more names to watch out for

Kole Calhoun, Jay Bruce, Christian Yelich, Jason Heyward, Alex Gordon, Matt Holiday, Marcell Ozuna, Mark Trumbo, Mookie Betts, Brett Gardner, Gregory Polanco, Charlie Blackmon, Rusney Castillo, Jorge Soler, Melky Cabrera, Alex Rios, AJ Pollock, Wil Myers, Jayson Werth, Denard Span, Shin-Soo Choo, Oswaldo Arcia, Coco Crisp, Carlos Beltran, Curtis Granderson, Joc Pederson, Adam Eaton, Khris Davis, Josh Reddick, Nick Markakis, Avisail Garcia

MLB – DFS – 3rd Base – The Top 10 Rankings & More

The Hot Corner produces some of the most dynamic players in the game and also some of the most interesting characters…specifically the top 3 listed below.

1. Adrian Beltre – if you are scared of his presence at the plate then you really don’t want to touch his head, even if you are on his own team.  I really can’t get enough of these videos of Beltre (hint – 18paabfvgx0mmgifthere will be another gif in this post – just because).

But on a more serious note, Adrian has been the definition of consistent over the last 5 years. Which is why is will be number 1 on this list until retires or at least until the #2 man grows out a longer beard to add onto his legendary mohawk.  Expect Adrian to have a BA of .300+ with 25+ dingers and 80+ RBI.

2. Josh Donaldson – #20 is one of my favorite players in the game.  His gritty, hard nosed play gets me really excited. It broke my heart to see him live Oakland but I think playing in another country is going to help his power numbers.  I think he is going to fit in nicely with the Blue Jays lineup, see more pitches, and take advantage of being indoors at the Rogers Center. He should hit 10839259.270 with 28 hrs and 90+ RBI and be one of the best teammates that you could ask for.  I really hope he still wears white cleats. If he doesn’t, he will drop to #3. But seriously, he will be a nightly option at 3rd base and is worth spending the DFS money on.

3. Evan Longoria – another guy with a solid mohawk and a hell of a swing.  Expect a serious bounce back season from him this year in the BAvg department. I wouldn’t keep it out of the question to see a 20 pt increase and him finish around .270 with 25 HR. The Rays rely heavily on his bat…seeing that he is the only one that can hit the longball that lineup. Keep a close eye on Longo this year.

4. Kyle Seager – being on a team (Seattle) that is a super sleeper in the AL West this year, Seager will benefit greatly from having more protection in that Mariners lineup.  He can hit for power and a middle of the road average.  I’d expect an increase of RBI from last year with him finishing in the mid 80’s.  A very viable matchup option for RHP nights.

5. Todd Frazier – why is this guy always labeled a sleeper? The last three years he has been one of the only guys to hit for power in that CINCY lineup. He was a 20/20 guy last year!   Keep him on your radar as a nightly option as he will finish with 25+ HRs and a higher average this year… more protection in the Reds lineup with Votto coming back.

6. Nolan Arenado – the luxury of hitting in Colorado for 81 games… he will be a good power option when he is hitting at home. He hit 16 of his 18 homers at Coors Field last year.  I wouldn’t consider playing him unless he was a Coors.  When he is at home, this dude is DANGEROUS!

7.  Matt Carpenter – hitting lead off for the Cards, expect him to score ALOT of runs – I think he is capable of crossing the plate 100+ times.  He doesn’t K, get’s on base a ton, and hits for a solid average.  He is the definition of a great lead off guy.

8. Manny Machado – Manny caught a crappy break last year. Getting hurt when you are hot is the worst of the worst.  Expect him to come back strong in his 22 year on this earth.  He can hit Manny-Machado-Orioles-throw-bat-060814for power, average and swipe a few bags. A big red flag for him is that he has a hot head issues when he is thrown inside…

9. Josh Harrison – One of the biggest reason the Pirates had such a great run last year, Harrison was always on base for McCutchen to bring home. He’ll hit for a solid average, have about 10 HR, swipe 15-20 bags,  but score 75+ runs (again). If his hot streak continues into 2015, he could be a cheap option for 3B.

10. Kris Bryant – has this guy been excluded of any conversation that involved the Cubs.  To be honest, I am excited to see him play. I have heard and seen nothing but good things.  I also have to be honest, that I am nervous for his transition into the MLB. He has the potential to be a 30+ HR guy and drive runs in that lineup but who am I to predict the future.  It hard to deal with the pressure of being the best prospect to come up this year. Let’s see what happens. Keep your eyes glued to the TV when he steps to the plate.

Nightly Power Bats – Yasmany Thomas, Pablo Sandoval, Aramis Ramirez, Trevor Plouffe,  Chase Headley

Sleepers – Louis Valbuena, Nick Castellanos

Bounce Back Candidates – Chase Headley, David Wright

New Blood – Yasmany Thomas, Kris Bryant

Even if your the best player in the league, don’t mess with ABmiggy_beltre_k3dvuih5
